Neurosphere-derived multipotent precursors promote neuroprotection by an immunomodulatory mechanism

Article Abstract:

A demonstration that in central nervous system (CNS) inflammation, neural multipotent precursor cells (NPCs) are able to promote neuroportection by maintaining undifferentiated features and exerting unexpected immune-like functions is presented. In a mouse model of chronic CNS inflammation, systematically injected adult syngeneic NPCs use constitutively activated integrins and functional chemokine receptors to selectivity enter the inflamed CNS.

Massive infection and loss of memory CD4(super +) T cells in multiple tissues during acute SIV infection

Article Abstract:

Highly sensitive quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analyzed is performed to determine which subsets of CD4(super +) T cells were infected, and to what extent virus propagated through these subsets. The effects of simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) infection and naive and memory T-cell in blood, inguinal and mesenteric lymp nodes are evaluated for delineating changes in T-cell subsets during early acute infection.
