Northern bobwhite and scaled quail abundance and hunting regulation: a Texas example

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that quantity of habitat space is the primary factor behind population declines of northern bobwhite and scaled quail in six Texas regions. The author posits that hunting restrictions would have an impact that would be largely dependent on boom and bust bird population cycles.

Land cover and bobwhite abundance on Oklahoma farms and ranches

Article Abstract:

Research shows that bobwhite population increases are linked to habitats comprised of early successional woodland and brushy prairie, and that population decreases are associated with habitats consisting of mature woodland. Topics include call-counts, patch size and richness, and landscape analysis.

Variation in brood sex ratios of Texas Rio Grande wild turkeys

Article Abstract:

Brood sex ratio (BRS) variation in Rio Grande wild turkeys is evaluated. Results conclude that BSR variation causes biologically significant differences in mean population growth rates.
