Article Abstract:
In order to understand the processes of freezing, supercooling and melting, liquid fragments are studied by measuring the evanescent X-rays at the solid-liquid interface of liquid lead and silicon.

Freezing by heating

A new transition, termed freezing by heating, has been discovered. The transition from a fluid state to a frozen state occurs on increasing the noise amplitude.
