Observation of random-phase lattice solitons

Article Abstract:

A report of the experimental observation of randomphase lattice solutions, demonstrating their self-trapping and local periodicity in real space, in addition to their multi-peaked power spectrum in momentum space is presented. The relevance of such solitons to other nonlinear periodic systems in which fluctuating waves propagates, such as atomic systems, plasmas and molecular chains are discussed.

Transport and Anderson localization in disordered two-dimensional photonic lattices

Article Abstract:

The effect of nonlinearities on Anderson localization in a perturbed periodic potential, the transverse localization of light caused by random fluctuations on a two-dimensional photonic lattice, is examined. The analysis has shown that Anderson localization is a universal phenomenon and it can be used to explore long-sought fundamental concepts and the interplay between disorder and nonlinearity.

Observation of two-dimensional discrete solitons in optically induced nonlinear photonic lattices

Article Abstract:

Researchers in Israel and the US have observed 2-dimensional lattice solitons by using optical induction to form the 2D photonic lattice. The new observations substantiate the proposed lattice solitons in Bose-Einstein condensates. Photonic structures could find application in miniaturized optical devices.
