Article Abstract:

The immigration policy of the European Union was criticized as a 'democratic deficit because it focused on restrictions on immigrants and asylum-seekers instead of preventing racism and xenophobia. The new policy emanates from provision of the Single European Act, provisions which deemed contrary to articles of the Treaty on European Union. It is expected that third-nationals excluded from EU citizenship will experience discrimination and restricted political participation.
