PAS is a dimerization domain common to Drosophila period and several transcription factors

Article Abstract:

The period gene product's (PER's) PAS domain of about 270 amino acids may act as a dimerization domain in both the Drosophila melanogaster single-minded gene product (SIM) and the dioxin receptor complex. PER also appears to regulate circadian gene transcription via interactions with the PAS domain of transcription factors containing basic-helix-loop-helix - PAS. PAS mutants appear to interfere with protein-protein interactions, changing circadian rhythms.

Endonucleolytic cleavage of eukaryotic mRNAs with stalls in translation elongation

Article Abstract:

Yeast mRNAs with stalls in translation elongation are recognized and targeted for endonucleolytic cleavage, referred to as 'no-go decay'. No-go decay provides a mechanism for clearing the cell of stalled translation elongation complexes, which occur as a result of damaged mRNAs or ribosomes, or as a mechanism of post-transcriptional control.

Quality control of mRNA3'-end processing is linked to the nuclear exosome

Article Abstract:

Research describing messenger RNA metabolism processes is presented. In particular the contribution of the exosome to proper 3'-end formation of mRNA is investigated.
