Patterns of genetic diversity in remaining giant panda populations

Article Abstract:

The analysis of four categories of molecular genetic markers, mtDNA restriction-fragment-length polymorphisms (RFLP), mtDNA control region sequences, nuclear multilocus DNA fingerprints, and micro satellite size variation in giant pandas is conducted. The analysis is carried from the three mountain populations to assess current levels of genetic diversity and to detect evidence of historic population subdivisions.

Conservation and management of Anacapa island deer mice

Article Abstract:

The genetic and morphological status of a subspecies of deer mice on Anacapa island of California was investigated. The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis yielded estimates of two to seven migrants per generation among Anacapa islets.

Effective population size and maintenance of genetic diversity in captive-bred populations of a Lake Victoria cichlid

Article Abstract:

Microsatellite DNA markers were used to investigate the diversity between subpopulation of haplochromine cichlid Prognathchromis perrieri. These were maintained as a part of the species survival part of the Lake Victoria cichlid.
