Perspectives past and present

Article Abstract:

A conference convened by the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme in Sep 1995 focuses on the development of biogeochemical ecosystem models which will help in predicting the characteristics of regional climate on seasonal to inter-annual timescales. The participants also discussed the presence of a missing sink of carbon in the terrestrial biosphere. The capacity to determine gas concentration and its isotopic nature with high accuracy facilitates the determination of O2/N2 variation in atmosphere.
