Article Abstract:

The study demonstrates that thymosin beta4, a protein that binds to components of the cellular internal 'skeleton' and activates a cell-survival signaling pathways, curbs the size of heart attacks in mice. It also reports that, in embryonic mouse hearts, thymosin beta4 is present chiefly in migratory cells- subsets of muscle cells and endothelial cells that fashion the cardiac valves, spongy trabeculae and outflow tract.

Ultra-remote stereocontrol by conformational communication of information along a carbon chain

Article Abstract:

A stereocontrol over a reaction taking place for more than 20 bond lengths from controlling centre, corresponding to a linear distance of over 2.5 nm is discussed. This transmission of information, achieved by conformational changes relayed through the molecule, provides a chemical model of allostery and might serve as a molecular mechanism for communicating and processing information.
