Quantifying social group evolution

Article Abstract:

An algorithm based on clique percolation is developed to investigate the time dependence of overlapping communities on a large scale and uncover basic relationships characterizing community evolution. It is found that large groups persist for longer if they are capable of dynamically altering their membership, suggesting an ability to change the group composition results in better adaptability.

Uncovering the overlapping community structure of complex networks in nature and society

Article Abstract:

An approach is introduced to analyze the main statistical features of the interwoven sets of overlapping communities that makes a step towards uncovering the modular structure of complex systems. The results revealed that overlaps are significant, and the distribution introduced reveal universal features of networks.

Simulating dynamical features of escape panic

Article Abstract:

A new, realistic modelling approach is used to examine crowd behaviour, based on the principle that crowds are made up of thinking and reacting individuals.
