Rapid communication: linkage and physical mapping of the porcine melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) gene

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the mapping of the porcine melanocortin-4 receptor MC4R) gene. The use of the primers to amplify porcine MC4R gene from genomic DNA is discussed.

Phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) maps to Xq1.2 in the porcine genome

Article Abstract:

Phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) was capable of mapping to Xq13.3 in the human genome, indicating that gene order between porcine and human genomes has been conserved through the whole chromosome. This was found when a positive clone was identified after primers from the human PGK1 sequence were utilized in screening a porcine yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) library. Through fluorescence in situ hybridization, the YAC probe was found capable of hybridizing to Xq1.2 on all the metaphase spreads observed.

Rapid communication: a PCR-RFLP in the coding region of the bovine tumor necrosis factor-alpha locus

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF(alpha)) gene locus. The use of the bovine genomic sequence for the TNF(alpha) as a primer is discussed.
