Realignment of the flux-line lattice by a change in the symmetry of superconductivity in UPt3

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the measurement of a hexagonal flux-line lattice in the heavy-fermion superconductor UPt3. The testing of the theoretical description of UPt3 superconductivity is discussed.

Coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in URhGe

Article Abstract:

Research describing the processes taking place in URhGe characterized by the coexistence of ferromagnetism and sperconductivity is presented. Particular attention is given to possibilities of finding bulk superconductivity through thermodynamic transitions.

Local switching of two-dimensional superconductivity using the ferroelectric field effect

Article Abstract:

A model oxide system based on high-quality heterostructures was demonstrated in order to study the ferroelectric field effect approach using a single-crystal film of the perovskite superconductor Nb-doped SrTi[O.sub.3] as the superconducting channel and ferroelectric Pb(Zr,Ti)[O.sub.3] as the gate oxide. It was observed that one could potentially design one-dimensional superconducting wires, superconducting rings and junctions, superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDS) or arrays of pinning centres.
