Recognition of RNA polymerase II carboxy-terminal domain by 3'-RNA-processing factors

Article Abstract:

A description of a structure of a Ser 2-phosphorylated carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) peptide bound to the conserved CTD-interacting domain (CID) of Pcf11, which is a protein, an essential and evolutionary conserved factor for polyadenylation-dependent is presented. Distinct CTD phosphorylation patterns couple different phases of the transcription cycle to the corresponding RNA-processing events as well as dephosphorylating CTD after or during transcription resulting in Pol II recycling.

Molecular basis of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase II activity

Article Abstract:

The molecular and the catalytic activities of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase II (RdRP) are explained. The RdRP activity is found to be much slower than the DNA-dependent activity.
