Recruitment of functional GABA sub A receptors to postsynaptic domains by insulin

Article Abstract:

The effect of insulin on the neurotransmitter receptor GABA sub A was analyzed using quantitative electron-microscope examination of immunogold staining. Insulin induces the rapid transmission of GABA sub A receptors to the plasma membrane and stimulates the increased development of GABA sub A receptors on the post-synaptic and dendritic membranes in the neurons of the mammalian central nervous system.

A gender bender

Article Abstract:

The number-crunching phase of the meta-analysis weighting differences by sample size on various data sets showed that male university students have significantly higher IQs than their female counterparts. Meta-analysis is not a substitute for properly designed research, and sex differences in average IQ, if exist, are too small to be interesting.

Gender benders

Article Abstract:

The insulin receptors play a crucial role in male sexual development, as revealed by a painstaking triple-gene-knockout study. The study conducted by Nef and his colleagues revealed new and unexpected roles for the insulin receptor family in sexual development.
