Regulation of cancer cell migration and bone metastasis by RANKL

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to show that the cytokine receptor activator of NF-kappaB ligand(RANKL)(super 7,8) triggers migration of human epithelial cancer cells and melanoma cells that express the receptor RANK. The resultant data show that local differentiation factors such as RANKL have an important role in cell migration and the tissue-specific metastatic behavior of cancer cells.

Stromal fibroblasts in cancer initiation and progression

Article Abstract:

The behavior of carcinomas, the most common form of human cancer, is influenced by the tumor microenvironment, which includes extracellular matrix, blood vasculature, inflammatory cells and fibroblasts. Studies reveal that fibroblasts influence the development and progression of carcinomas and these new findings have important therapeutic implications.

The common biology of cancer and ageing

Article Abstract:

The historical perspective and an update on different aspects of cancer biology that provides information about normal ageing are presented. It is shown that both cancer and ageing represent some complex biological tapestries.
