Reinforcement of pre-zygotic isolation and karyotype evolution in Agrodiaetus butterflies

Article Abstract:

Reinforcement model of evolution argues that natural selection enhances pre-zygotic isolation between divergent populations or species by selecting against unfit hybrids. The model can be used to show that sympatric distribution of 15 relatively young sister taxa of Agrodiaetus strongly correlates with difference in male wing color, and that this pattern is most likely the results of reinforcement.

The evolution of alternative parasitic life histories in large blue butterflies

Article Abstract:

The phylogeny for the large blue butterflies (Maculinea) group, which shows it is a monophyletic clade nested within Phenagris, a rare Oriental genus whose species have similar life histories is presented. The research conducted produces findings, which have important implications for conservation and reintroduction efforts for the group.

Detecting selection using a single genome sequence of M. tuberculosis and P. falciparum

Article Abstract:

A method to detect selection on the basis of a single genome sequence of M. tuberculosis and P. falciparum is discussed. The method can be rapidly applied to a large range of sequenced organisms.
