Rejuvenation of aged progenitor cells by exposure to a young systemic environment

Article Abstract:

The reduction in the ability to recreate the tissues is a clear indication of ageing and it may be also due to age that certain changes have arrived in the tissue related stem cells. The study indicates that the pace of reduction of progenitor cells due to age can be lowered with the help of systemic factors, which differ with age.

Shaggy mouse tales

Article Abstract:

The enzyme telomerase is studied in relation to cell biology because of its association with cell aging processes and cancer. Further, research has show that the enzyme telomerase has the capacity to lengthen stretches of non-DNA code and stimulate the proliferation of mouse hair follicle stem cells, generating shaggy mouse.

Conditional telomerase induction causes proliferation of hair follicle stem cells

Article Abstract:

TERT, the protein component of telomerase, has an important role in maintaining telomerase sufficiently long and stable in order to prevent the adverse consequences of dysfunctional telomerase. TERT has the ability to promote proliferation of resting stem cells through a non-canonical pathway.
