Rigs to reefs: California's offshore oil platforms produce more than just petroleum - they develop into lush habitats for marine life

Article Abstract:

There are 27 aged oil and gas platforms in the California coast and some sectors are arguing that the removal of these platforms will cause the death of a large amount of fish that have made these their habitat. Some are also arguing that these rigs are not the ideal structures for artificial reefs and that the rigs do not contribute to the ecological sustainability of a species.
