Salvage Logging in the Montane Ash Eucalypt Forests of the Central Highlands of Victoria and Its Potential Impacts on Biodiversity

Article Abstract:

Suggestions for environmental policies that protect biodiversity include prohibiting salvage logging from certain areas such as old-growth stands; varying the intensity of salvage logging to retain biological legacies in affected areas; and decreasing the physical disturbances that occur with salvage logging.

Virtual Conservation: How the European Union is Turning a Blind Eye to Its Vanishing Primeval Forests

The conservation status of the Bialowieza Forest, located on the Belarus-Poland border, is used to illustrate challenges facing the European Union in designing and implementing environmental policy. An assessment is made regarding the forest's continued vulnerability to logging interests.
