Scientific experts: more attention needed

Article Abstract:

A survey on the role of scientific experts reveals that there is strong support for court-appointed experts. Courts in England have realised the need for special witnesses who can give evidence on fact and opinion. The Woolf Report is aimed at improving access to justice at reduced costs and to review procedures of civil courts in England and Wales. The report suggests that courts should have the power to appoint an expert who can give evidence to help the court.
