Sleep-dependent memory consolidation

Article Abstract:

The myriad stages of sleep, forms of memory and processes of memory encoding and consolidation, sorting out how sleep contributes to memory are straightforward. The converging evidence from the molecular to the phenomenological, confirms that offline memory reprocessing during sleep is an important component of how the memories are formed and ultimately shaped.

Capacity limit of visual short-term memory in human posterior parietal cortex

The posterior parietal cortex is described as a key neutral locus of mental representation of the visual world. These mental representations are stored in visual short-term memory (VSTM), which is essential for the execution of a wide array of perceptual and cognitive functions.

What are the memory sources of dreaming?

The mechanism that translates memories into dream images remains largely unknown. New research targets the relationship between dreaming, memory and the hippocampus is producing a new theory to explain how, why and when one dream of waking live events.
