Societies spurn women editors

Article Abstract:

President of the Society for the Study of Evolution (SSE), Theresa Markow, has stepped down in protest that women were not adequately considered for the editorship of its journal, Evolution. The society's rule states that it should create a nominating committee to choose a chief editor, but instead they appointed a man after informal queries.

The plans to push tuna farms out into open waters off the coast of the United States are raising environmental alarm, as people are worried that these ranches can cause damage to the marine environment. The kinds of problems that can be caused by the offshore ranches are determined.
