Somatic and gametic resources in male rock shrimp, Rhynchocinetes typus: effect of mating potential and ontogenetic male stage

Article Abstract:

Rhynchocinetes typus, the rock shrimp male passes through several stages during ontogeny and a dominance order reflects this developmental order. The results suggest that during ontogeny, R. typus males invest simultaneously in somatic and gametic growth in accordance with their mating behavior and chance to mate.

Mating behaviour of male rock shrimp, Rhynchocinetes typus (Decapoda: Caridea): effect of recent mating history and predation risk

Article Abstract:

Neither recent mating history nor predation risk were found to affect the spermatophore transfer rate in rock shrimp populations, and no interaction was found between these two variables. This suggests that recently mated males alter mating behavior according to perceived opportunity.
