Sustainable human resources in a protected area in southwestern Gabon

Article Abstract:

Studies done on the perseverance of all those who participated in training sessions, held since 1996, in ecological survey techniques and in participatory rural appraisal in the Gamba Protected Areas Complex in southwestern Gabon is presented. Results suggest that village collaborators are the most 'sustainable' human resource and over a long term they can play a significant role in their community as agents of a sustainable development and of natural resource conservation.
