Article Abstract:

Tyndall centre, a successful interdisciplinary research centre, is facing an uncertain pace when its funding expires in 2009 due to which it will have to reduce research programmes and abandon its PhD studentship programme. The government should ensure to make special provision to guarantee the future of Tyndall centre because it needs the Tyndall centre kind of research to help it make decisions about climate change and maintain the flow of useful reports.

Independence day? Spain has increased science funding but now needs to modernize the organizations at the top

Article Abstract:

Ingenio 2010, a multifaceted program launched by Spain's politicians, is providing increased funding to scientific research in the country. But the slow-paced bureaucracy is hampering progress, raising suggestions for an independent and flexible agency for research funding, evaluation and foresight to enable Spain's researchers engage in effective research.

Investing to compete Ontario

Article Abstract:

The announcement of Ontario's plans to pour Can$1billion over the next ten years into a new cancer research institute. The investments aim to turn the province into a world class life-science region that will not only provide jobs for Canadian scientists but also make Ontario a more attractive destination for those from abroad.
