Spirit of the wilderness

Article Abstract:

Ian Player has been working as conservationist at Umfolozi for many years. He began as a ranger and has assisted in developing the reserve as a game warden. He believes man finds a sense of spirituality in the wilderness. Player has been instrumental in the preservation of the southern white rhinoceros which began in 1962 by launching Operation Rhino. His program made Umfolozi the breeding center of white rhinos in the world.
