Structure of the signal recognition particle interacting with the elongation-arrested ribosome

Article Abstract:

Cotranslational translocation of proteins across or into membranes is a vital process in all kingdoms of life and the translating ribosome should be targeted to the membrane by the signal recognition particle (SRP). The S domain of SRP that contact the large ribosomal subunit and the Alu domain that reaches into the elongation-factor-binding site of the ribosome are discussed.

A cryo-electron microscopic study of ribosome-bound termination factor RF2

Article Abstract:

Researchers in the US, Sweden and Denmark have discovered that RF2, a release factor, is in an open conformation when attached to a ribosome, thus allowing the peptidyl-transferase centre and the SPF-stop-codon interaction to act simultaneously.
