It took considerable commitment for Joyce Friedman, the Northeast campaign coordinator for In Defense of Animals, to achieve the removal from display by Barneys New York at its Madison Avenue outlet of around 33 caged live birds. The birds were eventually taken by the Beak Retreat sanctuary in Attleboro, MA.
