Targeting C-reactive protein for the treatment of cardiovascular disease

Article Abstract:

The design, synthesis and efficacy of 1,6-bis(phosphocholine)-hexane is reported as a specific small-molecule inhibitor of C-reactive protein (CRP). Therapeutic inhibition of CRP is a promising approach to cardioprotection in acute myocardial infarction, and also provides neuroprotection in stroke.

A beauty and a beast

Article Abstract:

The mapping of the 'exceptional Lie group [E.sub.8]' and its complex symmetry might be important for fundamental physics. The studies of gauged maximal supergravity theories in three dimensions have disclosed a link between supergravity and the split-real form of [E.sub.8].

Reduction and selective oxo group silylation of the uranyl dication

Article Abstract:

The reduction and selective oxo group silylation of the uranyl dication in a rigid and well-defined molecular framework is discussed. The results show that the uranyl oxo group easily undergoes radical reactions on being placed under appropriate reaction conditions.
