The Eps8 protein coordinates EGF receptor signalling through Rac and trafficking through Rab5

Article Abstract:

Research is presented describing how the protein Eps8 connects epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signalling with EGFR trafficking. Eps8, a substrate of EGFR, takes part in EGFR trafficking through Rab5, and EGFR signalling through Rac.

Rab5 is a signalling GTPase involved in actin remodelling by receptor tyrosine kinases

Article Abstract:

The study represents that Rab5 is indispensable for a form of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK)-induced actin remodelling, called circular ruffling. A three-pronged connection established by RN-tre with Rab5, F-actin and actinin-4 is proposed.

Endosome dynamics regulated by a Rho protein

Article Abstract:

The protein RhoD, a member of the Rho protein family, regulates early endosome dynamics and distribution, and causes rearrangements of the actin cytoskeleton and cell surface. The alterations of Rho mutant on endosome dynamics are due to an inhibition of intracellular organelle motility. The protein is localized in the plasma membrane and early endosomes. When overexpressed, it induces F-actin-containing membrane processes, the disassembly of stress fibers and focal adhesions from the cell periphery. It coordinates membrane transport with cytoskeleton function.
