The Observer 2.0

Article Abstract:

The Observer software package is directly entered into an IBM PC or collected into handheld computers and loaded into the PC for editing and analysis. It is an easy to use program for examining data on behavioral research. Scoring systems can be designed by creating a configuration file, and the data is collected by using handheld computers. The Observer is limited in its scope of analyzing the data, and is high-priced at 3950 Dutch Florins, though for non-profit institutions it is priced at 1950 Dutch Florins.

Developmental and hair-coat determinants of grooming behaviour in goats and sheep

Article Abstract:

The prediction from the programmed grooming model that newborn and young goats, Capra hircus, would groom more frequently than similarly maintained conspecific adults, was tested. It was concluded, that the elevated rate of programmed grooming of newborn and young ungulates appears to reflect their developmental precociousness and consequent exposure, in nature, to ectoparasites.
