The innate immune response to bacterial flagellin is mediated by Toll-like receptor 5

Article Abstract:

Research into the role of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in the innate immune system is described. Mammalian TLR5 is shown to control innate immune responses to bacterial flagellin.

Lipocalin 2 mediates an innate immune response to bacterial infection by sequestrating iron

Article Abstract:

A new mechanism by which the innate immune system curbs bacteraemia during the early stage of infection is described. The findings represent a new component of the innate immune system and the acute phase response to infection.

The Toll-like receptor is recruited to machrophage phagosomes and discriminates between pathogens

Article Abstract:

An experiment indicates that a point mutation in Toll-like receptor 2 neutralizes inflammatory responses to yeast and Gram-Positive bacteria. There are also indications that the receptor is recruited purely to macrophage phagosomes which contain yeast and differentiates between pathogens.
