The dynamics of a pre-mRNA splicing factor in living cells
Article Abstract:
Pre-mRNA splicing involves several essential splicing factors, and most splicing factors within the mammalian cell nucleus, accumulate in distinct domains known as speckles. A study of the dynamic aspects of nuclear organization, aimed to visualize pre-mRNA splicing factors in living cells, through the fusion of green fluorescent protein (GFP) to the amino terminus of the SF2/ASF splicing factor. Speckles were shown to specifically response to activated genes close by. This was dependent on RNA polymerase II transcription.

High mobility of proteins in the mammalian cell nucleus
Article Abstract:
The movement of proteins inside the nucleus of living mammalian cells has kinetic properties consistent with a diffusion-based process. It is possible that proteins roam the nucleus rapidly in search of appropriate binding partners or sites.

Dynamic binding of histone H1 to chromatin in living cells
Article Abstract:
The role of histone H1 in the organization of DNA to Chromatin is assessed. The use of photobleaching techniques to assess the binding of histone H1 to living cells is described.
