The poultry industry has tried to intensify poultry and egg production while doing little to alleviate the suffering of these birds. The animals are bred in overcrowded houses where they can readily contract disease. They are then slaughtered in large amounts to supply the global demand for poultry meat.

The plight of animals in Romania

Article Abstract:

Animals live under terrible and dangerous conditions in Romania. This is just one of the results of the former Ceausescu government and its authoritarian regulations that encouraged the abandonment of animals. Romania has a large population of feral animals, particularly stray dogs.
