Successful cultivation of the golden chanterelle

Article Abstract:

The first breakthrough in the fruit-body formation of the golden chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius) is reported. Pine seedlings only 16 months old hosted the cultivation under artificial conditions. An in vitro mycorrhiza synthesis procedure was began in Jan 1995. Pinus seedlings inoculated with C. cibarius were transferred to pots in Mar and plants were harvested in August. The first fruit-body was found in Apr 1996 and harvested later that month.

The rocky return of the Colorado lynx

Article Abstract:

The reintroduction of the Canadian lynx into the San Juan Mountains of Colorado in Feb 1999 has been criticized as being a rushed and ill-conceived project. The high mortality rates of the reintroduced lynx population reiterates the need for careful studies regarding such programs.
