The strongest size

Article Abstract:

The Hall-Petch effect is where strength in poly-crystals with grains sizes in the micrometer range, increases, with decreasing size. Schiotz and colleagues have simulated the molecular dynamics of crystals with grain sizes of 3.3-6.6 nm. The stress-strain variation showed an expected yield and plastic flow, indicating a reverse Hall-Petch effect. They show that deformation is due mainly to the several small independent slip events in the grain boundaries.

Selective assembly on a surface supramolecular aggregates with controlled size and shape

Article Abstract:

Research investigating techniques of realising miniature devices based on molecular combinations is presented. Particular attention is given to the process of supramolecular aggregation in which shape and size ar controlled in order to obtain selective assemblies.

Slick switching of X-rays

Article Abstract:

Research is presented describing the development of an X-ray pulse controling device using crystals to distort beams, which can then be used to measure biochemical or chemical reactions.
