The structure of Escherichia coli EF-Tu*EF-Ts complex at 2.5 angstrom resolution

Article Abstract:

A quaternary crystal structure has been determined for the EF-Tu*EF-Ts complex of Escherichia coli using a 2.5 angstrom resolution. In this complex, EF-Tu and EF-Ts subunits exist in a dimeric form and the monomers are linked through an antiparallel helical hairpin from EF-Ts. The interaction between EF-Ts and EF-Tu breaks the Mg2+ binding site and decrease the affinity of EF-Tu towards guanine nucleotides.

A triple beta-spiral in the adenovirus fibre shaft reveals a new structural motif for a fibrous protein

Article Abstract:

Human adenoviruses can act as gene therapy vectors. The crystal structure of a recombinant protein containing four distal repeats of adenovirus type 2 fibre shaft is described. The structure has a novel triple Beta-spiral fibrous fold, and implications for folding fibrous proteins and the design of new types of silk-like fibrous materials, are examined.
