The trans-Neptunian object UB(sub 313) is larger than Pluto

Article Abstract:

The most distance known object in the Solar system, 2003 UB(sub313) was discovered near aphelion and found to have high eccentricity and inclination to the eplitic plane, along its perihelion near the orbit of Neptune, and identified as a member of scattered disk. The thermal emission of 2003 UB(sub 313) was observed at a wavelength of 1.2mm, which in combination with the measured optical brightness leads to a diameter of 3,000 (plusmn) 300 (plusmn) 100 km, making it the largest known trans-neptunian object, even larger than Pluto.

A map of the day-night contrast of the extrasolar planet HD 189733b

Article Abstract:

The observations of extrasolar planet HD 189733, the closest of the eclipsing planetary systems, have helped in constructing a map of the distribution of temperatures. An increase in brightness in detected as the dayside of the planet rotated into view, indicating that energy from the irradiated dayside is efficiently redistributed throughout the atmosphere, in contrast to a recent claim for another hot Jupiter.

A neptunian triplet

Article Abstract:

The discovery of three planets of Neptune orbiting a Sun-like star, which is known to have an asteroid belt, is discussed. The newly found planetary system is remarkable in that it possesses three planets located on nearly circular orbits within 1astronomical units of the star.
