Article Abstract:

Several researches are being conducted to identify and study the growing number of genes that are involved in various steps of the metastasis process, in order to devise new therapies for treating cancer. It is found that a total set of four genes are required for the development of a new tumour and for the promotion of the dissemination of its cancerous cells to other organs.

Targeted cancer therapy

Article Abstract:

Disruption of the normal regulation of cell-cycle progression and division are the main factors leading to cancer. The progress in understanding the molecular changes that underlie cancer development offer the prospect of specifically targeting malfunctioning molecules and pathways to achieve more effective and rational cancer therapy.

A loss-of-function RNA interference screen for molecular targets in cancer

Article Abstract:

A description of a loss-of-function screen for genes required for the proliferation and survival of cancer cells using an RNA interference library is presented. This method can be used to establish a functional taxonomy of cancer and help reveal new classes of therapeutic targets distinct from known oncogenes.
