Thumbs up for inactivation

Article Abstract:

An unusual mechanism by which Ras-family proteins can be inactivated is revealed through new structural information. The structure reveals the molecular mechanism by which the GTPase-activating protein (GAP) induces guanine nucleotide triphosphate (GTP) hydrolysis and why cancer-causing mutations in Ras render the protein incapable of being inactivated.

A receptor unlocked

Article Abstract:

The structure and the biological functions of the G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that govern several biological functions are discussed. The G proteins are found to control various processes, including metabolic activity and cell movement.

Proton-sensing G-protein-coupled receptors

Article Abstract:

Ovarian cancer G-protein-coupled receptor 1 (OGR1), previously described as a receptor for sphingosylphosphorylcholine, acts as a proton-sensing receptor stimulating inositol phosphate formation is shown.
