Two faces are better than one

Article Abstract:

CD8 extracellular domains at T lymphocytes surface bind to immobilized peptide/major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules. The binding of the CD8 alpha-alpha homodimers is similar to the binding of the CD8 alpha beta heterodimers. Absence of CD8 leads to the rapid dissociation of the peptide/MHC complexes from the T-cell antigen receptors (TCR). The addition of CD8 alpha-beta heterodimers improves the TCR affinity to its specific ligand. CD8 promotes intercellular adhesion and TCR signalling, through its association with the intracellular tyrosine kinase p56(super lck).

CSIRO faces a 'demand-led' future: Australia's main research agency has responded to the prospects of continuing budgetary stringency by redefining its strategic approach

Article Abstract:

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Australia is moving towards strategic and applied research, and away from fundamental research. It aims to support wealth creation and environmental sustainability for Australia, and research will be run like an investment portfolio, and will be demand-led.
