Watermarking by numbers

Article Abstract:

A digital watermark can be seen with the help of a computer program, containing the same secret element that had been used for embedding the watermark. The watermark, bound to the original data, is resistant to common manipulations and is hard to remove. The watermark information is encoded within the original data through the rearrangement of existing noise or introduction of additional noise. Over-watermarking may lead to visible audible defects due to the high accumulation of noise. Watermarks which are dependent on the content can help in avoiding counterfeit of the original.
