Which histone kinase?

Article Abstract:

J.P. Whitlock and his associates misidentified the phosphoprotein involved in their study of phosphorylation as histone H3. Reproducing their experimental procedure, the histone involved turns out to be H2A.X, a minor variant of H2A which was not yet discovered at the time of the earlier experiment. The mistake was due to the two histones' similar migration through gels.

Endonucleoytic processing of covalent protein-linked DNA double-strand breaks

Article Abstract:

DNA double-strand breaks with protein attached to strand termini are formed by Spo11 to initiate meiotic recombination. The Spo11 protein must be removed for the double-strand breaks to be repaired, but until now the mechanism for the removal of Spo11 protein remains unclear.
