Why voles stick together

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to show that increasing the expression of a single protein in particular brain region of male meadow vol es makes them more socially cohesive rather like their close relation the prairie vole. A study on volves indicates that classical comparative studies of natural populations, judiciously coupled with modern molecular and cellular neurobiology would continue to provide insights into the relationships between genes and brain-cells collectives.

The voles of Hokkaido

Article Abstract:

Voles are ideal subjects to study population dynamics as they are found virtually everywhere and have a short life span. Studies of Hokkaido voles lead to a systematic monitoring programme. The data provides patterns in population dynamics but the underlying processes are of ecological interest, and methods have been developed to analyze fluctuating time-series.
