Winter foraging ecology of moose on glyphosate-treated clearcuts in Maine

Article Abstract:

Glyphosate, which is widely used as a herbicide for managing forest vegetation in northern coniferous forests in Canada and the US, has little toxic effect on wildlife, but can have a considerable short-term impact on habitat. Recent research has considered the impact of glyphosate treatment on regenerating clearcuts in Maine on the diet quality of moose, on browse use and browse availability. It was found that glyphosate does not have a significant impact on diet quality, although moose tend to be attracted to older treated clearcuts.
