Wnt-mediated axon guidance via the Drosophila derailed receptor

Article Abstract:

Derailed is an nonconforming receptor tyrosine kinase expressed on axons, projecting in the anterior ammmissure, and are responsible for keeping these axons out of the posterior commissure. A detailed study on Drosophila derailed receptor shows that the Derailed receptor is an essential component of Wnt signaling in the guidance events of the axons.

Sperm death and dumping in Drosophila

Article Abstract:

In Drosophila melanoganster, the last male to inseminate a female sires approximately 80% of subsequent progeny. Seminal fluids do not kill rival sperm and that any 'incapacitation' is probably due to sperm ageing during sperm storage is shown.
