Superparasitism acceptance and patch-leaving mechanisms in parasitoids: A comparison between two sympatric wasps

Article Abstract:

The way in which females divide their foraging effort between patches of different densities and what proximal leaving mechanism they use is investigated and the patch exploitation strategies of two related sympatric parasitoids are compared. It is found that the wasps have evolved very different patch-leaving rules in response to differences in their superparasitism behavior.

Sneaky feeding by salmon in sympatry with dominant brown trout

Article Abstract:

The feeding performance and overt aggressive behaviour of two closely related salmonids occupying the same food patches are compared and the foraging competition between pairs of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar and brown trout was investigated. Efficiency of food capture was higher in salmon than in trout and there was no significant difference between species in food intake.
