Coming in from the cold

Article Abstract:

The 2004 Artic Climate Impact Assessment report that the frantic pace of Arctic warming has effected plants, animals, people that can ripple across the entire planet. It is suggested that G8 summit leaders should collaborate on the tried and tested model in Antarctic, and Russian leadership should set up a council working group on pan-Arctic research to address issues on the availability of research permits, and maintenance of infrastructure for monitoring conditions in the region.

Constrained circulation at Endeavour ridge facilitates colonization by vent larvae

Article Abstract:

The authors have investigated the ability of larvae from extant hydrothermal vent fields to colonize the mid-ocean ridge system. The current velocity measurements from the Endeavour ridge have been used to study the role of topographically constrained circulation on larval transport along the ridge.
