Manolis Andronikos, 1919-1992
Article Abstract:
Manolis Andronikos, the famed excavator of the Macedonian royal tombs at Vergina, died in Thessaloniki, Greece, after a long illness. Andronikos' significant contributions to the field of archaeology includes the excavation of the Iron Age graves and the discovery of the tombs of King Philip II of Macedon and his wife. Scholars from around the world lauded the importance of his discoveries but were skeptical about the identification of the deceased. Androniko was awarded many honors, including election as a member of the Archaeological Society of Athens and the Archaeological Institute of America.

Warren G. Moon, 1945-1992
Article Abstract:
Warren G. Moon, author of numerous publications on ancient and modern art and professor of classics and art history at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, died of an accidental fall on June 23, 1992 at the age of 47. His achievements include memberships to the Ford Foundation and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. He also worked as a research curator for the Art Institute of Chicago and as a consultant for various art museums. Moon was considered as an excellent promoter of art exhibitions and symposia through which he shared his knowledge to others.

Alexander's epic march

"In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great" is a television show that documents the leader's famous march in cinematic detail. British historian Michael Wood followed Alexander's route through the Near East, Middle East and Asia, with political difficulties preventing the inclusion of Iraq. Woods recorded famous sites, such as the Battle of Issus coastal plain, and the changes affected by modernization.
