Rise of the hominids: an informative, albeit simplistic, journey through time
Article Abstract:
The CD-ROM 'Origins of Mankind' from Maris Multimedia is generally accurate, up-to-date and entertaining, especially for teenagers, although more experienced users may find that some of the information is oversimplified. In addition, some sections of the program are presented simply as written material on the screen, without taking advantage of the multimedia format. The different sections do target a range of ability levels, however. Main sections include 'Cousins and Ancestors,' 'Discoveries,' 'Roads of Evolution,' 'Morphological Transformations' and 'Theories of Evolution.'
